WE ARE OPEN! Birmingham Physical Therapy is currently accepting new patients, as well as transfer patients from facilities that have had to temporarily close. If you are in need of physical therapy, please reach out to us at (205) 298-9101 for an appointment today.
As always, we continue to follow CDC and WHO recommendations for cleanliness. Your health and wellness remain our top priority
In addition to procedures mentioned below, we have recently implemented the following policies:
*All patients are asked to wait in their car until their scheduled appointment time. If you arrive early or are a new patient, please call when you arrive to see if your PT is ready for you. Otherwise, your PT will come to the door to get you at your scheduled time.
*Only patients will be allowed in the clinic. We ask that all other family members wait in the car. Essential caregivers will be allowed on a case by case basis.
We look forward to seeing all of our familiar and new faces!
MARCH 20, 2020
Dear Birmingham PT Family:
We at Birmingham Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely. The health of our patients, staff, and community are of the utmost importance to us, and we remain committed to doing our part to help flatten the curve related to the Coronavirus.
Our plan is to remain open to serve our patients in the coming weeks. Local government has closed all non-essential business; however, physical therapy is considered an essential service and has been excluded from these restrictions. We continue to adhere to strict cleaning policies, as well as following the CDC and WHO recommendations for limiting exposure to the Coronavirus. We feel that the set up of our clinic allows us to limit exposure by being able to distance patients from one another, as well as treat in private rooms as needed. With this said, we at Birmingham Physical Therapy fully respect the right of all our clients and staff to make decisions on whether they should come to the clinic. We will fully support all of the decisions by individuals pertaining to entering the clinic.
To continue providing patient care during this difficult time we have several options for people who are not comfortable or unable to come into the clinic for treatment.
Option #1 - E-visits:
Due to this pandemic, governing bodies have granted us the ability to provide services related to physical therapy via phone or video conferencing. These sessions can be used to assess current status, update home exercises programs, provide feedback, and answer questions. These sessions have to be initiated by the patient/client. We ask that if you are interested in this option, please call the clinic and we will set up an appointment for you. These visits are currently covered by Medicare, and Blue Cross of Alabama is working to add it to their policies.
Option #2 - In-Home PT Visits:
Medicare and many Blue Cross of Alabama policies allow us to come to your home and provide covered physical therapy services. If you are unable to leave home or do not want to leave your house but feel you need therapy, call the clinic and we will walk you through this process. Our visiting PTs are trained in keeping a clean environment to limit any exposure to you or your family.
As always, our goal is to serve our community safety and effectively. We look forward to seeing all of you for continued therapy in the coming weeks, and we will keep you informed of any modifications to our plans.
We provide one-on-one therapy throughout your course of treatment. This means that you will spend your full appointment with a licensed physical therapist who is actively managing your care from beginning to end.
Dry needling is a treatment technique that involves the insertion of a thin needle into a trigger point in a muscle. It can be used to decrease pain, improve range of motion, facilitate muscle control, and more.
We offer specialized evaluations for a variety of sports, from running to golf to crossfit. These evaluations include screening, education, and corrective exercises to maximize function and help you reach your goals.
Visceral manipulation is a manual therapy technique consisting of gentle, specific forces applied to the body to encourage normal movement of the internal organs. This technique can be combined with other interventions to maximize function and decrease pain.
We want our patients to maintain their progress beyond the completion of their physical therapy. To this end, we offer a community wellness and exercise program designed to maintain strength and maximize function.
